Fishers and hunters may yet have to bargain with another requirement by next year as licenses are pegged to increase thanks to a move to help bolster the sagging budget of the Department of Natural Resources. The legislation approved Friday would raise the cost of a fishing license from $12.50 to $14.50. Aside from this, the move can be seen as a means of trying to help in the issue concerning the number of fish resources still available. As we know a some fish habitats are dilapidating and perhaps this development can help in the control for their reproduction, giving them some allowance in a manner of speaking.

As the fishing industry and suppliers have to deal with cutbacks on their catch, expect various fish products to raise their prices. Included are Cod and haddock which are expected to declare price hikes due to the 25% cut in fishing quotas. And to make sure that demand meets supply, the price increase is expected. However, these developments can severely affect the fishing industry as well unless some reform/s are done soon.

Leave it to people to turn to something drastic when it comes to livelihood as far as the Bluefin tuna issue is concerned. While there is a proposal to limit the number of catches on Bluefin tuna due to dilapidating resources, various groups are wary that such a move may lead to illegal fishing in the Pacific. There has been an ordered 30% reduction for Bluefin Tuna fishing and apparently many are not pleased with it. And since it could direly affect some fishing vessels, walking on dire straits such as illegally fishing more than what has been set is seen as the reason for the potential rise of illegal fishing of the endangered Bluefin tuna species.
