A shark forced the Yeppoon Main Beach to close down on Christmas Eve. The shark was spotted some 200 meters of the lifeguard flags. The shark however disappeared as fast as it was spotted. The sighting follows the attack by a bull shark on 19-year-old John Pengelly who received deep lacerations to his wrist and lower forearm while spearfishing in Gladstone last weekend.

A voluntary recall on Cressi Ellipse Black MC5 regulators has been announced by Cressi-sub USA after a partial obstruction of the high pressure port can lead to inaccurate reading on the pressure gauge. This inaccurate reading can pose as a drowning hazard if not addressed. There have already been 3 reports of inaccurate pressure readings.
