The annual Harriman Reservoir Fishing Derby has been postponed until February 26 and 27 due to safety reasons. With a thickness of only 5 inches, the lake has been considered unsafe for snowmobiles and ATVs for this annual event which attracts 500 to 1,000 people each year. Any tickets already purchased will still be valid for entry into the derby and the raffle drawings.

The Island Lake Fishing Derby will be held from February 1 to 28 at the Island Lake Conservation Area, where the top three prizes await the anglers who can reel in the longest Northern Pike. Fishing times are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. where a $30 would be needed to enter.

Fishing in Queensland has temporarily been shelved no thanks to a storm named ex-Tropical Cyclone Olga. The storm apparently started yesterday afternoon and pose imminent danger to the local fishermen. Overnight, 75 millimeters fell in the town.

Here is another boat and fishing show being held over at Cleveland. The Mid-America Boat & Fishing Show opens today at the International Exposition Center, offering boats of all shapes and sizes and a bunch of other goodies related to fishing and boating. Other events for the show include Lake Erie Day, Food Drive Tuesday, WMJI Wing Eating Contest, and Adopt-a-Pet. Tickets are priced at $12 for adults while kids go free.
