May 21 will be a special day of fishing for Middle East War Veterans and friends organized by Alaska’s Iraq and Afghan war veterans. More than 40 vessels from three Cook Inlet communities will be participating in the Alaska Veterans Halibut Fishing Tournament.

Lodges, cabins, and bed-and-breakfast inns are offering reduced rates for participants. National and local businesses provided sponsorship support, and donations have been welcomed from individuals hoping to add their voice.
